Held over nine days in mid-July, the 1966-established Pori Jazz Festival is one of Finland's
biggest summer events. Over 100 concerts take place in diverse indoor and outdoor ven-
ues, along with free jam sessions. Much of the action is along Jazz Street, the closed-off
section of Eteläranta along the riverfront, with stalls, gigs, makeshift bars and street dan-
cing.
Sleeping
Some of the best options are by the beach at nearby Yyteri. In town, reliable chain hotels
include Sokos and Scandic.
Jazz festival accommodation in and around Pori books out up to a year in advance and
prices skyrocket.
