AIR
Airlines flying to/from Tampere:
Finnair/Flybe Flies to Helsinki (though it's more convenient on the train) with connec-
tions to other Finnish cities.
Ryanair Daily services to several European destinations including London Stansted,
Frankfurt, Milan and Girona.
SAS Flies direct to Stockholm.
BOAT
Lakeboats from Tampere can take you south to Hämeenlinna via Visavuori, or north to
Virrat via Ruovesi.
BUS
Regular express buses run from Helsinki (€27, 2¾ hours) and Turku (€25.60, two to three
hours), and most other major towns in Finland are served from here.
TRAIN
The train station is central. Express trains run hourly to/from Helsinki (€39, 1¾ hours),
and there are direct trains to Turku (€33.30, 1¾ hours) and other cities.
Getting Around
TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
Tampere-Pirkkala airport is 15km southwest; arriving flights are met by a bus (
0100-29400; www.paunu.fi ; €4.70) to the city centre (€4.70, 30 minutes). Tokee (
0200-39000; www.airpro.fi ) serves Ryanair flights, leaving from the train station forecourt
about 2½ hours before take-off (€6).
Shared airport taxis ( 0100-4131; www.taksitampere.fi ) (per person €19) must be booked
in advance from the city to the airport. A regular cab will cost around €35.
BUS
The local bus service is extensive. A one- /24-hour ticket costs €2.60/6.50. Check route
