On the northwestern side of the town hall, neoclassical Hamina Church, designed by CL
Engel, was built in 1843.
Orthodox Church of Saints Peter & Paul CHURCH

Topped by a classic onion dome, the 1837 Orthodox Church of Saints Peter & Paul, on the
southeastern side of the town hall, is the work of architect Louis Visconti, who designed
Napoleon's mausoleum.

Learn about Hamina's history at the town museum, housed in Hamina's oldest building.
King Gustav III of Sweden and Catherine II (the Great) of Russia held negotiations here in
1783.
Hamina Bastion RUIN
The ruins of the 18th-century Hamina Bastion include 3km of crumbling stone walls that
would have made a star-shaped fortress. The bastion comes alive for the annual Hamina
Tattoo; otherwise pick up a free copy of Walking in Old Hamina from the tourist office.

The longest slope on this mountain at Reitkalli, 12km northwest of Hamina, is 80m high
and 800m long, with nine runs in total. In summer you can pelt downhill on a mountain
bike, while in winter you can do it on skis or a snowboard. You'll need your own wheels to
get here.
