A highlight of Korpo is its medieval church. Built in the late 13th century, it features naïve
paintings on the ceiling and a statue of St George fighting a dragon.

A dignified old farmhouse, complete with corner stove in the downstairs bedroom, con-
tains this four-roomed B&B looking out onto fields and has its own serene bathing pier a
short walk away. In summer there are also three simple cabins for rent (from €40). Pay-
ment is by cash only. It's 7.2km east of Korpo village.

Regional delicacies at this local linchpin include fried herring with lingonberries, and fresh
and cold-smoked whitefish soup with dark archipelago bread, while innovative twists on

You guessed it, Buffalo specialises in steaks, but there are also fish dishes (though few ve-
getarian options). Its waterside terrace is a prime spot for long lingering with a cold beer;
the bar kicks on after the kitchen closes.
