Houtskär & Iniö
Houtskär and its tiny neighbour Iniö are delightfully tranquil, if short on sights. Both is-
lands have Swedish-speaking populations. There are no ATMs.
Houtskär's two ports are Mossala in the north and Kittius in the south. You can pitch
camp or rent a cabin at Mossala's Skärgårdens Fritidscenter ( 02-463-3322;
www.saaristo.com ; tent sites €20, cabins €65-170) , which also has a restaurant and rents boats.
The modest Houtskär Archipelago Museum (admission €2; noon-4pm Sat-Mon, 1-7pm
Tue-Fri early Jun-early Aug) in Näsby includes a small windmill, restored dairy shed and peri-
od home, and can help with tourist information.
Iniö's sweet stone Church of Sofia Wilhelmina ( 10am-5pm Jun-Aug) was built in the
18th century. The area is good for nature strolls.
The Antonia ferry links Houtskär (Mossala) and Iniö (passenger/bicycle/car €8/15/35,
one hour, four daily Monday to Saturday, three on Sunday) from June to August. FinFer-
ries has timetables.
Kustavi
The island village of Kustavi (Swedish: Gustavs) represents the final piece of the Ar-
chipelago Trail puzzle, offering scenic seascapes and a jumping-off point for the Åland is-
lands.
Kustavi's wooden church ( 10am-5pm mid-May-mid-Aug) , built in 1783, features the
cruciform shape and votive miniature ships common in coastal churches. It's possible to
