Mami's riverside summer terrace is perfect for people-watching, though its abiding pop-
ularity means you'll have to fight for a table with half of Turku. Seasonal ingredients from
local, small-scale suppliers - chanterelles, perch, salmon, cockerel - are prepared with
care.

Founded in 1848, this is one of Finland's oldest restaurants but its menu is up to the
minute: burgers in brioche buns with chilli mayo and fries, pan-fried salmon with crayfish
sauce, blueberry mousse with crème fraîche and raspberries. The three-course lunch for
€27 is a great deal. Upstairs, the bar stays open to 1am on Friday and Saturday.

Look for the low-key black-tile signage to find this hip venue. Inside it's all Scandi chic
with regular DJs, but the dining area is separate enough for you to concentrate on the food:
stir fries, salads such as haloumi, avocado and strawberries with fig dressing, great lunch
specials and the best Sunday brunch in town.

A vaulted cellar lit by flickering candles makes a romantic backdrop for stunning, often or-
ganic Modern Finnish cuisine: spinach waffle with quail egg and air-dried pork, roast
Åland lamb with cauliflower purée and nettle sauce, or whitefish with bronze fennel.
Desserts such as almond pastry with yoghurt pudding and lemon-and-thyme sorbet are
equally inspired.
