-t : Required parameter that indicates that you are going to configure the printer.
-p PrinterName : Required parameter that specifies the name of the printer that you are
configuring. Enclose the printer name in quotation marks.
-s RemoteComputer : Optional parameter that specifies the name of the host if the share is
on a remote system. Enclose the hostname in quotation marks.
-u UserName -w Password : Optional parameters that provide the credentials needed to take
the action on the desired host. Enclose both the username and the password in quota-
tion marks.
-r PortName : Optional parameter that specifies the port to which the printer is connected,
such as LPT1 , COM1 , or IP_< IPAddress > .
-l Location : Optional parameter that provides descriptive text for the location property of
the printer. Enclose the text in quotation marks.
-m Comment : Optional parameter that provides descriptive text for the general comment
property of the printer. Enclose the text in quotation marks.
-f SeparatorText : Optional parameter that points to a text-formatted file that contains the
content to be printed on separator pages. The text file should have an .sep file extension.
Enclose the text in quotation marks.
-st StartTime -ut EndTime : Optional parameters that specify the start and the end of the
period during which the printer is available. Documents sent to the printer outside this
interval will be held in the queue until the interval starts again. Enter the start and stop
time in 24-hour format, such as 900 for 9:00 a.m. or 2100 for 9:00 p.m.
-o Priority : Optional parameter that specifies the priority of this printer with regard to
the Print Spooler service. A print queue with a higher priority number receives its jobs
before a print queue with a lower priority.
+ | - Direct : Optional parameter that specifies that documents should be sent directly to
the printer without being spooled. Use the plus symbol ( + ) to enable this feature; use the
minus symbol ( - ) to disable it.
+ | - Queued : Optional parameter that specifies that jobs should not be printed until the
final page has been queued (spooled). Use the plus symbol ( + ) to enable this feature; use
the minus symbol ( - ) to disable it.
+ | - KeepPrintedJobs : Optional parameter that specifies that the Print Spooler service
should retain print jobs even after they have been printed. Use the plus symbol ( + ) to
enable this feature; use the minus symbol ( - ) to disable it. If you configure the printer to
retain jobs, be certain to pay close attention to available disk space.
+ | - EnableDevq : Optional parameter that specifies whether mismatched documents
should be held in queue or printed. Use the plus symbol ( + ) to enable this feature; use the
minus symbol ( - ) to disable it.
For example, to set some of the general configuration settings for a printer named HP
LaserJet 1300 PCL 5e, run the following command:
