6-7. Configuring a Remote Access Policy
Problem
You want to create a remote access policy to define who can remotely access a network via the
IAS server and under what conditions.
Solution
Configuring a Policy for a Common Scenario
To configure a policy to match a typical remote access scenario, do the following:
1.
Open the IAS MMC snap-in.
2.
Right-click Remote Access Policies and select New Remote Access Policy.
3.
Click Next on the wizard's initial Welcome screen.
4.
On the Policy Configuration Method screen, select the Use the Wizard to Set Up a Policy
for a Common Scenario radio button. Enter a descriptive name in the Policy Name text
box. Then click Next.
5.
On the Access Methods screen, select one of the following scenarios:
￿ VPN: Use for all VPN connections. (To create a policy for a specific VPN type, see the
following set of instructions, “Configuring a Custom Policy.”)
￿ Dial-up: Use for dial-up connections that use a traditional phone line or an Inte-
grated Services Digital Network (ISDN) line.
￿ Wireless: Use for WLAN connections only.
￿ Ethernet : Use for Ethernet connections, such as connections that use a switch.
6.
On the User or Group Access page, select one of the following:
￿ User: User access permissions are specified in the user account.
￿ Group : Individual user permissions override group permissions.
7.
If you selected Group access in step 6, click Add to select the Windows groups who
should be given access.
