SharePoint Excel Services
One of the biggest drawbacks with Excel as a BI tool is the fact that it is a tool that
requires installation on your computer. In many cases, you would want to run a web-
based tool or an application that runs on the server. Here is where SharePoint adds
functionality to your BI solution. SharePoint gives a user the capability to publish an
Excel workbook to the server. This workbook can then be consumed through a web
browser.
Excel Services even allows you to access workbooks from non-Windows systems,
such as iOS, Mac OS X, or Android.
