Allowed member set
means that, in this case, only the
Europe
member is al-
lowed and all others are explicitly denied. This includes all new members that may
be added to the dimension.
Testing data security
To test the security of your cube project, perform the following steps:
1. Double-clickonthe
Adventure Works DW2012.cube
fileinthe
Solution Ex-
plorer
window.
2. Click on the
Browser
tab and then click on the
Change User
button.
3. In the
Security Context
dialog, click on the
Roles
radio button, select the
Europe Reader
option in the drop-down list, and then click on
OK
.
4. Click on the
Design mode
button to switch the mode of the query designer
so that you can type a statement. Type in the following MDX statement:
select [Measures].[Order Quantity] on
columns,
[Sales Territory].[Sales Territory
Group].members on rows
from [Adventure Works DW2012]
5. The following will be the results:
As you can see, the sum of all the orders is
60399
and not
18089
; this is the ex-
pected result and is due to the fact that the totals for the entire cube are used
even though the user only has rights to see data from Europe. This is typically not
