11. Click the
Browser
tab and then click on the
Change User
button.
12. In the
Security Context
dialog, click on the
Roles
radio button, select the
Internet Sales Readers
in the drop-down list, and then click on
OK
.
13. Review the available objects in the Metadata browser. You may observe that
you cannot see the
Employee
,
Geography
, or
Reseller
dimensions in your
cube.
Securing measures
The previous steps have shown how you can limit the access to a specific dimen-
sion. To allow a user to see some of the data in the cube, such as specific meas-
ures or specific levels within a dimension, you have to use
Dimension Data
security.
The following steps describe how to limit the users so that they can only see specific
measures:
1. Double-click on the
Internet Sales Readers.role
file and click on the
Dimen-
sion Data
tab.
2. Select
Measures Dimension
under the
Adventure Works DW2012 cube
and then click on
OK
.
3. Deselect all measures except for the following:
•
Sales Amount
•
Fact Internet Sales Count
•
Order Quantity
•
Unit Price
•
Extended Amount
•
Discount Amount
•
Product Standard Cost
•
Total Product Cost
•
Tax Amt
•
Freight
•
Sales Amount - Fact Reseller Sales
