In-Depth Information
Summary
Now, what we have covered in this chapter is by no means an in-depth look at the
subject of camera setup and composition. We have nevertheless managed to cover a
number of extremely important aspects of the topic.
Firstly, we identified a number of standard shot types that we can make use of such
as wide, medium, and close up. We also considered the impact of our output aspect
ratio setting for composition and highlighted some of the more commonly used ones.
Closely tied to the aspect ratio setting is the pixel resolution at which our final renders
will be made. Here, we settled on a full HD, 16:9 ratio output of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
We also demonstrated the impact that our choice of focal length setting will have on
composition, noting that this will most likely vary greatly from shot to shot on a project,
even when we are rendering inside the same space. And finally, we have set up a
number of render views for ourselves, each employing a number of the basic rules of
composition that we discussed in Chapter 1 , Diving Straight into Photographic Ren-
dering .
Having dealt with a number of important output settings then, we are ready to take a
look at improving our rendered output by means of V-Rays' numerous quality controls
in our next chapter.
