35. Use the Identify tool and the attribute tables to look at each of the four reclassified datasets:
rcl_Soils, rcl_Landu, rcl_Sewers_buf, and rcl_Streams_buf. Make sure that the Values are 0 or
1, and that they indicate the correct places.
Adding the Rasters with the Raster Calculator
Now you may perform addition on the four rasters whose names begin with rcl. You will use the Raster
Calculator.
36. Start the Raster Calculator. By double-clicking the raster names and single-clicking the plus (+)
operator, create the expression that adds together the rasters
rcl_soils,
rcl_landu,
rcl_Sewers_buf, and
rcl_Streams_buf
shown in Figure 8-44. Click Evaluate. Call the raster SUM_LuSoStSw and save it in the
Wildcat_Boat_SA personal geodatabase. It will appear in the T/C and on the map. What values
are produced? ________, ______,______, _____. What value indicates those areas suitable in
all respects? ________ Check it out with the Identify tool and the attribute table. In the T/C,
change the colors of zones 1, 2, and 3 to light pink. Make zone 4 a dark red. The map should
look a lot like the first solution to the Wildcat Boat problem that you developed in Chapter 7,
but without the 2000 square meter criterion.
