Figure 4.7 Black and white shading of all 129 211 census enumeration dis-
tricts on an equal population cartogram. The geographical concentration of those
born in Ireland is very clear: London (but not along the river!), Birmingham and
Manchester dominate, followed by Leeds, Liverpool and Glasgow. By using the
median level, exactly half the tiny enumeration districts are shown black.
