SECRET NIGHTS AND SPECIAL EVENT SPACES
The last few years have seen a revival in nights where you only discover the venue at the last
minute, especially for big warehouse parties. The good news is that the most likely spaces are
great sites, with several venues around that just host others' special events. The best bet for
finding out what's on is Resident Advisor ( W residentadvisor.net).
Ewer Street Car Park ( W bit.ly/18wBM3I) near Southwark Tube is a series of cavernous
arches that provide great atmosphere for events, although it's fairly infrequently used. Netil
House has hosted all sorts of great after-parties and events ( W www.netilhouse.com) near
London Fields train station, while Autumn Street Studios ( W facebook.com/autumnstreet
studios) is a fun one-room studio behind the Olympic site run by major UK promoters Bloc.
While the term ”pop-up” has been tarnished by overuse, there are many genuinely
spontaneous venues. Homerton's The Dentist ( W facebook.com/33ChatsworthRd) is a
squatted shop front with atmospheric gigs, friendly parties and an artsy crowd. You may also
see the name Loft Studios ( W http://bit.ly/18i7GVf ) listed for dance music events, bringing
house music to parties in northwest London near Willesden Junction.
