You should use measurement tools to check this. If you are not using something as
sophisticated as Final Cut, After Effects, or Premier, you might be able to open a preview
window in your compression tool to see the effect of your settings. The preview window
shows the result, and you can compare the source and preview values with a color-
measurement tool.
In Mac OS X, in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder you will find a dig-
ital color meter tool. To help you find it, Figure 35-6 shows you what the application icon
looks like.
Figure 35-7 shows you what the tool looks like when you run the application.
