The compression process can be inspected in the preview window where preprocess-
ing, crops, and the effects of the compression process can be seen before and after by mov-
ing the sliding bar. The effects have been exaggerated in the example shown in Figure 30-10.
Job control is managed through the batch window (see Figure 30-11).
The MPEG-2 output is used when mastering DVDs, for example. The MPEG-4 sup-
port is for creating web streamable ISMA profile 0 and 1 files. Compressor will also use
QuickTime and supports a TIFF-based export as well.
Compressor is the best tool for making MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 coded video
packages on the Mac OS X platform.
