Cleaner 6 on Mac OS and Cleaner XL on Windows are very similar. Real Networks
video is supported natively in XL, while on Mac OS the support is only available when it
is running as a Classic application. Windows Media encoding is better supported on the
Windows platform because the SDK includes a WM9 encoder that is not available on the
Mac OS platform. That is an issue with Microsoft's support of Windows Media, not a
Cleaner shortcoming.
Some batching and workflow support is provided. Cleaner supports watch folders,
which is a useful feature for building automated compression systems. Cleaner also has
some AppleScript support, which provides opportunities to build workflow that integrates
