Database Reference
In-Depth Information
Depending on the task, the user must be a member of one or more of the fixed database
roles for management data warehouse. The MDW roles are mdw_admin , mdw_writer , and
mdw_reader .
1.
Right-click on Data Collection, click the Setup data collection radio button to open
the Configure MDW wizard, and click Next to continue.
2.
By default, the Server name and Database name are selected on the Configure
Management Data Warehouse Storage screen.
3. At the Cache Directory option, we will leave the defaults at this time to store under
%\Program files\SQL Server\ folder . If a blank value is supplied then local
server C:\TEMP folder will be used.
4. On the next screen, click Finish to complete the Wizard by using 1445_MDW storage.
Start system collection sets and enable the data collection.
5. Using the Configure Management Data Warehouse wizard, the three default system
collection sets can be configured. Similarly, to create a user-defined collection set,
we can use the sp_syscollector_create_collection_set procedure and
create necessary collection_items to indicate what information the collection
needs to collect.
6.
The four different collector types are TSQL query, SQL Trace, Performance Counters,
and Query activity.
