3. The System Configuration Checker (SCC) runs a set of setup support rules to identify
problems that might occur when installing SQL Server support files. Any failures that
are reported under the Status column must be corrected to proceed further. Click OK
to process the SQL Server 2008 R2 setup operation.
4. Click Next after entering the product key to validate the instance of SQL Server 2008
R2 and accept the license terms. Click Install to continue to setup support files.
5. On the Feature Selection page, select the relevant components to install. For
Failover Clustering, only the Database Engine and Analysis Services components
can be selected.
6. Define the custom directory for shared components or click Next to accept the
default to install under C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\
MSSQL10_50.xx\ folder.
7. On the Instance Configuration page, specify whether to install a default or a
named instance.
8. As a best practice, always use the same InstanceID for all the nodes that are
prepared for the failover cluster. Click Next to continue.
9. The information screen is presented for the Disk Space Requirements of the features
that are selected in step 6. Click Next to continue.
10. The Cluster Security policy page is essential to configure the security policy and
specify the global or local domain groups for clustered services. For the Windows
Server 2008 operating system, specify the Service SIDs (security ID) and choose the
default setting.
11. For this recipe, as the Windows Server 2008 operating system is used, we will choose
the default setting as referred to in the previous steps. Click Next to continue.
12. On the Service Accounts page, specify the login accounts for SQL Server services,
and make sure to choose a domain account only. Click Next to continue.
13. On the Server Configuration | Collation tab, choose any collation for Database
Engine and Analysis Services components. The Server Configuration | FileStream
enables the FILESTREAM feature on SQL Server services. Click Next to continue.
14. The Error and Usage Reporting page is presented for error reporting, which is
enabled by default. Click Next to continue.
