Despite Provence-style decor, the menu offers strictly top-quality diner fare, including
eggs every which way. Add fluffy pancakes, good coffee and friendly, efficient service,
and this becomes Sanibel's go-to morning choice - so expect a wait. In summer, it also
opens for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday.

Look for the Pepto Bismol-pink shack just before Blind Pass and you'll have found the
friendly Lazy Flamingo. This is where locals go for blackened grouper sandwiches, conch
fritters and ragingly spicy Dead Parrot Wings. It ain't fancy, but it's family-friendly and the
shrimp-boat decor, outdoor tables and scallop-shaped plates are no-fuss fun.
There's another outlet at the other end of the island at 1036 Periwinkle Way.

The unpretentious, shingle-roofed Mucky Duck is perfectly positioned for Captiva sunsets,
and devoted locals jockey for beach chairs and picnic tables each evening. The extended
menu offers more than just pub grub, with pasta, steak, chicken and seafood. Really,
though, it's the friendly bar and toes-in-the-sand Gulf views that keep 'em coming.

Vacationing Manhattan and Miami urbanites flock to what is widely regarded as Sanibel's
best locavore gourmet restaurant. Contemporary seafood is the central focus, with creative
appetizers such as oysters and a seafood martini, while mains emphasize bouillabaisse,
crab cakes, pan-seared grouper and so on. As the name suggests, it's not stuffy, but it's for
culinary mavens whose concern is quality, whatever the price.
