In-Depth Information
This stylish exposed-brick saloon is a favorite Fort Myers watering hole. It serves a range
of fancy tapas, sandwiches and bar food, along with wine and cocktails. Nosh and slosh
your way through an evening on the vine-wrapped patio.
City Tavern AMERICAN
( MAP GOOGLE MAP ; 239-226-1133; www.mycitytavern.com ; 2206 Bay St; mains $8-16;
11am-11pm Sun-Wed, to 2am Thu-Sat)
This former dive bar may have retained the TVs, darts board and pool table, but TV chef
Brian Duffy has revamped its tired menu and brew list to include packed muffaletta and
Cuban sandwiches, and craft brews.
Farmers Market Restaurant SOUTHERN
( 239-334-1687; http://farmersmarketrestaurant.com ; 2736 Edison Ave; mains $12-14;
6am-8pm)
Pleasing diners with its simple Southern comfort food since 1950s, this modest place has a
loyal local following. It's nothing fancy, but if you're hankering after some fried chicken
and mustard greens or whitefish and grits, this is the place for you. It's a five-minute drive
southwest of downtown.
Cantina Laredo MEXICAN
( 239-415-4424; www.cantinalaredo.com ; 5200 Big Pine Way, Bell Tower Shops; mains $12-23;
11am-10pm Sun-Thu, noon-11pm Fri & Sat)
Maybe it's the margarita talking, but this atmospheric Mexican chain does everything
right: sharp service, low and romantic lighting, top-shelf tequila, Mexican beer on tap and
guacamole made fresh tableside. The poblano asado (steak-wrapped poblano pepper) is
delicious. From downtown, it's a 15-minute drive south along S Cleveland Ave to Bell
Tower Shops.
Drinking & Entertainment
The historic downtown, in and around 1st St, is plenty active come nightfall; definitely
cruise the restaurants and bars in Patio de Leon, a courtyard off Hendry St near 1st St. The
district becomes a veritable street party twice every month: for the Fort Myers Art Walk
