Crammed with artifacts, this small museum leapfrogs from the giant sloths of the Pleisto-
cene Era to the twisted props of downed WWII fighter jets in a veritable blink. Along the
way, iron cannons and Calusa dugout canoes, a Cracker house and an iron lung provide
snapshots of Florida through the ages. If you have kids, get combo tickets with the Imagin-
arium.

November through March, manatees flock up the Orange River to this warm-water dis-
charge canal from the nearby power plant. The waterway is now a protected sanctuary,
with a landscaped park and playground in addition to viewing platforms at water's edge,
where manatees swim almost at arm's reach. Calusa Blueway Outfitters (

The park is signed off Hwy 80, about 6.5 miles from downtown Fort Myers, and 1.5
miles east of I-75.

At Page Field, off Cleveland Ave, just south of downtown Fort Myers, Classic Air oper-
ates restored 1940s open-cockpit biplanes (that's right, goggles, leather helmet and all). It
offers three different flights from 35 to 60 minutes in length.
