WORTH A TRIP
LOCAL ODDITY: THE TREATY OAK
At first glance, it looks like a small forest is growing in the middle of the concrete on Jack-
sonville's south side. But upon closer inspection you'll see that the 'forest' is really one
single enormous tree, with a trunk circumference of 25ft and a shade diameter of nearly
200ft. According to local lore, the live oak tree is the oldest thing in Jacksonville - its age
is estimated to be 250 years. You'll find the super-tree in Jesse Ball duPont Park (1123
Prudential Dr).
