VROOOM! DRIVE YOUR OWN RACE CAR
If merely watching NASCAR drivers streak around the track isn't adrenaline pumping
enough, you can actually get in the car yourself via the Richard Petty Driving Experience
( GOOGLE MAP ; 800-237-3889; www.drivepetty.com ) . Choose from several levels of death-
defying action, from the three-lap passenger-seat Race Ride ($135) to the daylong Exper-
ience of a Lifetime ($2199), which puts you behind the wheel for 30 white-knuckle laps.
The experience is held on a rotating basis on NASCAR tracks around the country; it usu-
ally lands in Daytona about three weekends out of the month - see the online calendar
for details.
