Boca Raton is more or less equidistant from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Air-
port (FLL) and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), and sprawls several miles east and
west of I-95.

Delray Beach
Founded by Seminoles, and later settled in the 18th and 19th centuries by African Americ-
ans and Japanese agriculturists, who farmed pineapples just east of I-95, this melting pot
retooled itself for the tourist trade when the railroads chugged through Delray Beach in
1896. Local hotels and clubs turned a blind eye to prohibition laws and accommodated
everyone. Perhaps this eclectic mix of early residents - from the industrious to the lawless
- is the reason Delray so effortlessly juggles a casual seaside vibe and a suave urban soph-
istication.
Sights & Activities
Atlantic Ave, the town's main drag, is lined with boutiques, bistros, hotels and more. A
few blocks away, a stretch of NE 2nd Ave known as
Pineapple Grove
has a lower-key
hipster vibe.
Among the best beaches are the

Delray Beach is also home to the International Tennis Championships, a professional
tournament held annually at the Delray Beach Tennis Club.
