Figure 1. The essential requirements of being an engineer
or a process requires a study of engineering models
and deep understanding of basic science and the
mathematical techniques. Those models require
correspondence with reality in their conception,
and precision in their description. And those
mathematical techniques, like all mathematical
techniques, require practice, sophistication and
rigor. Consequently, the technological world of
an engineer has been constructed on the pure
disciplines of mathematics and basic sciences,
but it is not contained in them (Chatterjee, 2005).
The aims of teamwork development are that the
members work interdependently and work towards
both personal and team goals. They understand
these goals are accomplished best by communal
support. They feel a sense of ownership towards
their role in the group because they committed
themselves to goals. Members work in partner-
ship together and use their talent and experience
to supply the success of the team's purposes. As
a part of every mutual work, members try to be
honest, respectful, and listen to others point of
view. They see conflict as a part of human nature
and they react to it by treating it as an occasion
to hear about new ideas and opinions. Members
participate equally in decision-making, but each
member understands that the leader might need to
make the final decision if the team cannot come
to a common consent (Kaufman 2000).
Teamwork
Most engineers work as a team. Therefore they
should be good team players and acquire reason-
able skills in communicating with others. This is
highly important when planning and creating new
projects. Teamwork and group work are increas-
ingly common elements of engineering learning.
When group activities and projects are assigned,
two types of learning outcomes will emerge:
Practical, Innovative Personality
Conceptual advances have always been the driv-
ing force behind scientific progresses. This in turn
relies on creativity and the ability to continue the
production of new insights and innovative ideas.
The history has given us many discoveries (es-
pecially in engineering and the sciences) linked
to a sudden recognition, which are the outcomes
of creative, dreamer mind of human beings. An
Product outcomes : outcomes related to the
content of the course;
Process outcomes : outcomes related to
team skills and contribution in group work
activities.
