Shear dominant structures
Both panels CA3 and CE3 are 1.4 m (55 in.) square and 178 mm (7 in.) thick. They are
reinforced with two layers of steel grids made of #6 deformed bars (bar area
284 mm 2 ), but
with different spacing. The material properties of these panels are given in Table 6.3
Panels CA3 and CE3 were subjected to reversed cyclic shear strains with increasing magni-
tude using the strain-control feature of the universal panel tester (Figure 6.1). The experimental
hysteretic loops of panels CA3 and CE3 are recorded by solid curves in Figure 6.32(a) and (b),
respectively. In these diagrams, the shear stress
