the refractive power of the eye and reducing the amount of ametropia. Once the
laser has sculpted the underlying stroma, the corneal cap is repositioned.
Surgical corneal implants can also be used to compensate for ametropia. The
implants can typically be removed if they are unsuccessful in providing an accept-
able correction.
