In-Depth Information
Omit Record . Go to the record you don't want (using the topic icon, for example), and
then choose Records→Omit Record or use the shortcut Ctrl+T ( -T). This one-off com-
mand tosses the record out of the found set, reducing your found count by one. Don't
confuse it with the Omit button that shows up in the Status toolbar when you're in Find
mode, which tells FileMaker to omit all the records that match your find request. The Re-
cords→Omit Record command omits just the single record you're sitting on.
Omit Multiple . If you have a whole stretch of records you don't want, then use Record-
s→Omit Multiple. It omits a contiguous group of records from the found set, starting
with the current record. For instance, if you want to omit 10 records in a row, then navig-
ate to the first record of the 10. Choose Records→Omit Multiple and then, in the dialog
box that appears, type 10 . Click Omit, and the job is done. See the box below to learn
how to use this option like the pros do.
Show Omitted Only . You can use this option when you're printing two separate
lists—one of the New York customers, and one of everyone else, for example. Once
you've printed the New York records, your found set happens to be exactly what you
don't need. Choose Records→Show Omitted Only. This command effectively puts every
record that's not in the found set into the new found set, and takes every currently found
record out. That is, it swaps sets.
TIP
You can also use Show Omitted Only if you forgot to use the Omit option in your find request. In-
stead of going back to Find mode to fix your request, just choose Records→Show Omitted Only,
and you get the same effect.
