DIVING AND SNORKELLING IN SOUTH LOMBOK
The two areas for diving in the south are good at different times of year and are always
very quiet; it's also possible to reach dive sites in the southwest around Sekotong on a day-
trip.
Kuta sites are best from October to March and are good for novices. The area is known
for its pelagics and its manta rays (around March). At Gili Medas, in front of the Novotel ,
you'll encounter pygmy seahorses and manta rays; Mawun Slope and Tanpa have plentiful
coral. Mawun is the only real option for snorkellers . Blongas , west of Selong Blanak, can
be dived year-round but it's open ocean and is only for experienced divers with a minimum
of twenty dives and Advanced certification. In August and September it's good for devil
rays and hammerheads.
