The banjar , or neighbourhood, of Padang Tegal, which is centred on Jl Hanoman, is margin-
ally quieter than Jl Monkey Forest but has plenty of shops and restaurants. Depending on the
location, you may be quite a hike from the market.

TEBESAYA, PELIATAN AND NYUHKUNING
Tebesaya is a residential area around 15min walk east from Ubud market. Further east again,
the neighbourhood of Peliatan harbours a couple of excellent and quiet places to stay. Ny-
uhkuning is a peaceful village just a 10min walk from the bottom of Jl Monkey Forest
through the Monkey Forest, which can be somewhat eerie in the evening.

modation gorgeously located by a small river, affording dramatic views of ricefields and
Gunung Agung. Service is friendly and there's a pool and free transport i nto U bud. This is
