Figure 13-26. Editing Sheet titles to add references to selected Measures
So far, we've seen how we can use Quick Filters and Parameters to affect multiple Sheets on
Dashboards, and we've seen how we can create Sheets that act as dynamic labels in response
to changes in Quick Filter selections. Next, we'll look at how we can configure Sheets them-
selves to filter and highlight other Sheets on a Dashboard.
Using Sheets as Filters on Dashboards
Once a Sheet has been brought into a Dashboard, it can be used as a filter by simply clicking
on the down arrow in the upper-right corner of the Sheet and selecting
Use as Filter
. Tableau
generates a filter Action that we can review and edit by clicking
Dashboard
→
Actions
and
editing
Filter 1 (generated)
, resulting in the dialog box shown in
Figure 13-27
.
If we take a close look at the
Edit Filter Action
dialog box in
Figure 13-27
, we'll notice three
distinct sections.
▪ The top section, “Source Sheets,” tells us what triggers the Action. In this case, the de-
fault Filter Action is triggered when a user selects (clicks on) a Mark in the Sheet called
Map
on Dashboard 2.
