▪ The middle section, “Target Sheets,” tells us what Sheets the Action affects, and what
happens when the selection is cleared. In this case, all of the Sheets on the Dashboard are
affected by this Action, and clearing the filter will show all values.
▪ The bottom section, “Target Filters,” tells us what fields of the selected Mark(s) on the
Source Sheet are used to affect the other Target Sheets. In this case, it has defaulted to all
fields, meaning that when a country Mark (circle) on the Map is selected, all of the fields
associated with that Mark (Country Name, Year, etc.) are used as filters for the other
Sheets.
The default settings for this Filter Action will give us some problems. We don't really want
the bar chart on the left to only show one country, and showing all years at the same time on
the map and bar chart will be very confusing. Let's change the default settings to look like
what's shown in
Figure 13-28
, which allows us to show the timeline for only the selected
country, whether we click on the country in the map or the Rank bar chart.
