This new hover icon we've added is more an annotation than an image, illustrating my earli-
er claim that dashboard building is a highly iterative process and the steps are not strictly lin-
ear. We'll consider how to add web page objects in the next chapter.
Step 5: Actions
Now we come to the part of Tableau that is perhaps the most powerful: the ability to make
the visualizations we've created and added to our dashboard richly interactive . This can give
users the ability to rapidly explore multiple elements of the data from multiple angles in a
visual way. We can give our users the ability to instantly change all of the views based on a
single Quick Filter, or allow them to click on one chart and have it filter the others. The res-
ult, if done well, is a data discovery gold mine.
