I made some changes purely based on aesthetics: first, I changed the Marks type from
Auto-
matic
to
Circles
, then I changed the color palette from
Green Sequential
to a reversed
Orange-White-Blue Diverging
. Finally, I gave the circles some transparency and added light
gray borders using the Color shelf, as shown in
Figure 8-4
.

Who Is Who?
One challenge with the view so far is that it's a guessing game as to which players the dots
correspond to. Where is Mark Messier, Gretzky's teammate on the Edmonton Oilers and the
New York Rangers? Where is Gordie Howe, the player that Gretzky surpassed when he
claimed the career points leadership? We can't tell. If that's part of our message, then we
have a problem.
