Upper limit = [% in Chess Club]+[Margin of Error]
Error Bar Line = [Upper limit]-[Lower limit]
np = [n]*[% in Chess Club]
Finally, he created a dual-axis dot plot with error bars as follows:
▪ He created a Circle plot with Town on Rows and SUM(% in Chess Club) on Columns,
sorted descending, and added np to the Filter shelf, including only values of np greater
than or equal to 5 (to satisfy the criteria for using the Normal approximation interval).
▪ Next, he created a Quick Filter for Grade and selected only one of the grades to show
(fifth and sixth grade).
▪ He dragged Lower limit and Upper limit to the Details card and created reference
lines for each cell, one for each of the two calculated fields.
▪ He then dragged SUM(Lower Limit) to Columns, made it a Gantt Bar chart, and added
SUM(Error Bar Line) to the Size shelf of the Gantt Bar chart, reducing the Size of the
bar so that they were thin lines rather than thick bars.
▪ Finally, he changed the new Gantt Bar chart to a dual-axis with synchronized axes.
The resulting dot plot with error bars is shown in Figure 7-20 .
