In southeast Asia the toilets by and large tend to be squatty potties or a glorified hole in the
ground. Shops and budget hotels will have this style of squat toilet with a ceramic platform
mounted over the whole with a bucket of water for flushing the toilet. You will need to bring
your own toilet paper but dispose of it in the trash so that you don't clog the pipes. In upmar-
ket hotels and fancier restaurants you will find more western toilets but you will still need to
throw away your toilet paper rather than flush it.
