In-Depth Information
Network Rendering By distributing your project's workload to multiple
remote computers (Render-Farm) you both speed up the production process
and release your main workstation to continue with more production. There are
two types of Network Rendering: Distributed Rendering, where each computer
is assigned its own unique project frame; and Concurrent Parallel Rendering,
where all computers are assigned individual chunks of the same project frame
(often called bucket-rendering).
Partition An internal electronic hard drive structure where data is allowed to
be contained. Every hard drive must be initialized or formatted so the computer
knows where to save its data. A partition is the dedicated area created to allow
data storage. A hard drive can have one or many separate partitions. Operating
Systems determine the size limit of a given partition.
Pixel Aspect Ratio The dimensions of each pixel's virtual height versus width.
It usually refers to the method of image squish to create widescreen images
inside standard frame space, otherwise known as Anamorphic compression.
Progressive Scan A method of recording a full-resolution image in one frame
without resorting to interlacing scan lines. Each scan line is recorded in
succession or all at once, resulting in clearer definition.
RAID Redundant Array of Inexpensive Drives, a cluster of hard drives that are
attached to each other in either a managed group for security reasons, where
data is divided up to each drive using a secure recording code (RAID 5), or
acting as one big fast drive where the data is shared alternately across the
cluster (RAID 0).
Raster An array of individual pixels clustered together to create one complete
image. Usually measured by the number of horizontal pixels versus the vertical
pixel count.
Rasterize The process of rendering a vector file's line drawings into a bitmap
image. Since a vector file only contains mathematical descriptions of a shape
and its color, before it can be visualized it must interpolate where the image's
lines and colors appear on the screen.
Render-Farm The use of one or more simple dedicated remote computers in
the process of building your project while your workstation is free to create
more projects.
