In-Depth Information
Drag the WONK Logo Master.ai file into the Master Comp (at 0:00) above
the two Precomps. Change its Scale (S) to 400% and you can see that the
file becomes blurry from over-scaling. Yet if you turn on the same switch used for
Collapse Transforms, activating the Continuously Rasterize mode on vector files,
the Illustrator file becomes sharp and clear. Toggling the switch on and off will
clearly show the difference between the two modes. Another difference when
using Continuously Rasterized Illustrator files is you can use Masks and effects
(unlike Collapse Transforms Precomps) to isolate and filter your vector layer.
Activate both the Continuously Rasterize and 3D Layers modes for the WONK
Logo Master.ai layer, then:
1
Open the Position and Scale properties for WONK Logo Master.ai .
2
Set the Blending Mode to Lighten and the Opacity (T) to 90%.
3
Pull the logo closer to your point of view by setting the Z-axis
coordinate to '
8.0'.
4
Resize and position the logo to cover the logo Precomp's text.
5
Duplicate the WONK Logo Master.ai layer.
6
Center each copy's Anchor Points.
7
Apply a Mask isolating each vector logo text.
Masking - Part 4: Compound Masks
Layer Masks can be composed of many individual
paths, either building upon each other or working with
various mix modes to create composite masks. The
logo's new Illustrator overlay includes an element not
needed - the tall bar separating each element's text.
You could remove these bars by making smaller Box
Masks surrounding only what needs to stay, or you can
make another small Box Mask around each bar and set
the Mask Mix Mode to Subtract. This is called making a Compound Mask.
After Effects has no limit to the number of Mask paths per layer, so don't be
timid on using multiple Masks to allow for better isolation or animation effects.
It's important to remember that with Masks, the order of priority (which Mask
