Defining the Attributes
Instead of starting from scratch, you'll use the title block reference you already
have as the foundation for your sheet information block. The following exercise
will guide you through the process of creating attributes from the existing text
in the title block drawing:
1. Open 14A-BD8H11.dwg from the Training Data directory if it isn't
already.
2. From the Insert tab Attributes panel, select the Define Attributes
button to open the Attribute Definition dialog box.
You will create attribute definitions as you did in Chapter 9, except
this time you'll focus more on text justification than text style. After
all of the attributes are defined, you'll learn how to use the existing
text as a template for style by using the MATCHPROP command (Match
Properties).
3. For the first attribute, enter PROJECT for the Tag, and Enter Project
Name for the Prompt.
4. Sheet Set Manager is an extensive feature set that helps you manage
the drawings that make up your project. It will be discussed a little
later in this chapter, but for now you'll simply set up your sheet infor-
mation block so it can use some of these advanced features.
Click the Insert Field button found next to the Default text box in
the Attribute Definition dialog box.
5. Select the Field Category drop-down list, and then pick the SheetSet
option.
This filters the list of available Field Names down to include only
those pertaining to Sheet Set Manager.
6. Choose CurrentSheetSetProjectName from the list of available Field
Names, and then pick Uppercase from the Format list on the right. The
Field dialog box should look like Figure 14.10. Click OK to exit the Field
dialog box.
NOTE Design drawings typically use uppercase letters, especially
when prominent items such as titles are designated.
Back in Attribute Definition dialog box, the Default field now con-
tains #### and has a gray background, as shown in Figure 14.11.
