Verify or Repair Disk Permissions
The permissions associated with files determine what specific users or groups can do with
those files. This is particularly important for the Mac Pro system files, so you should periodic-
ally verify that the permissions on your Mac Pro's hard drive are working properly.
If the permissions on one or more of the OS X system files become corrupted, your Mac Pro
may freeze, run slowly, or become unstable. You can sometimes solve these problems by re-
pairing your Mac Pro's disk permissions.

Open the Hard Drive in Disk Utility
Click
