Add a Messaging Account
By default, Messages creates an iMessage account using your Apple ID, which enables you
to exchange instant messages with other iMessage users, including any of your friends who
use an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If you also want to exchange text, audio, or video mes-
sages with users on different messaging systems such as AOL, Google, and Yahoo!, you
must set up a messaging account for that system. You can also set up a Bonjour account to
exchange messages with people on your local network.
