Nudity
Ironically, along with their high
sense of fashion, the French
also have a notorious lack of
modesty, though that seems
to be diminishing. While they
bathe at beaches in the nude,
they are less likely to strip in a
public swimming pool or along
the banks of the Seine when
sunbathing in summer.
You can join in the nude
beach scene, though we would
discourage public elimination.
Just remember, guys, nudity in
France is not an invitation for
sexual advances, but another

Make sure your hair is well-groomed. (A haircut in
Paris is a good way to start.) And don't overdo it
with makeup.
For men
Wear good wool or corduroy pants in winter, well-cut,
with a belt. Heavy wool sweaters under your wool
or leather jacket will help keep you warm in rain or
wind. A 'macintosh' over everything and an umbrella
will be useful. Leather moccasins or dress shoes are
preferred, though more sporty shoes are acceptable
now.
In the countryside, the code is less formal and on the
beach, it's less altogether.
