Chapter 19
Performing Backup and Recovery
with Enterprise Manager
This chapter shows you the basics of using Enterprise Manager (EM) for backup and recovery. EM provides you with an
interface to RMAN through several screens. You can access most of RMAN's many features via these screens. The main
goal of this chapter is to show you how to successfully perform fundamental backup and recovery tasks via EM. You
should find the layout of Enterprise Manager fairly intuitive and easy to navigate to the desired feature. One nice aspect
of EM is that the screens visually show you the various RMAN features and possible configurations. The screenshots in
this chapter are based on Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c.
It is beyond the scope of this topic to show you how to implement and use all the features available through
EM. Oracle has a whole set of topics on how to implement and use EM. You can download EM documentation from
Oracle's OTN website at http://otn.oracle.com .
