This library is the second largest in the United
States. Its tall historical columns shares a block with Bryant Park. Although
free, the New York Public Library is truly a gem to the city. Inside lies liter-
ature treasures such as Truman Capote's cigar case, Charles Dickens' favor-
ite letter opener, and the original Winnie the Pooh and friends stuffed anim-
als.

servation deck is breathtaking. In preparation of long lines and disgruntled
tourists, be weary of weekends. The best time to visit the Empire State
Building is between noon and five, where most locals are staying safely in
their offices before taking their harried commute.
