Posts are usually set 6 to 15 feet apart, depending on the fencing material. Some material
comes in continuous lengths, so the distance between posts is not as critical. But if you
are using lumber or other materials that come in precut lengths, the distance between your
posts must be accurate. It is better to make the distance between posts a few inches less
than the lumber lengths so you can trim off any split ends of boards.
The flange of metal T-posts should be set below ground level for safety.
If ground is rocky and prevents you from setting T-posts deep enough, cover the ex-
posed flanges with rocks or concrete.
