posts or high tension.
Gates
Gates should be free swinging, light to handle, and roomy enough for the intended purpose.
All gates should be the same height as the fence. Locate gates in the line fence, not in a
corner where a horse or person could get trapped. Man/horse gates should be 4 to 6 feet
wide, machinery gates between 12 and 16 feet wide. Walk-throughs are small spaces in the
fence where a person can slip through sideways. These can be handy, but may also be a
hazard for a horse if improperly designed. Gates used with rigid metal corral panels are
usually a panel, a bow gate, or a gate in an arch frame.
Gate sag can be remedied by setting the gate on a rock, a cement block, or a wood block
when the gate is open and closed. If your gate is angling down, you can lift it off its pinties
(the pins on which it swivels) and adjust them. Screw in the top pintie and unscrew the bot-
