In-Depth Information
Turnout sheet. A turnout sheet must be safe, well fitted, and tough. Whether a turnout
sheet needs to be waterproof, water-resistant, or just dirt-resistant depends on its intended
use. If your climate is dry, a tough, UV-resistant, dirt-resistant sheet will suffice. If you live
in a very wet climate, you'll want to choose a waterproof and breathable turnout sheet. If
you turn your stalled horse out for exercise when it is not raining, a water-resistant sheet
will work because even if he rolls on wet ground, he will likely stay clean. Since horses
that are turned out are very active, the sheet must fit well and stay put. Sheets with properly
adjusted elastic leg straps often are the best choice for turnout.
