( 971 61 61 94; Carrer Ponent 5; mains €12.50-23.50; 10am-10pm Jun-Aug, shorter hours rest
of year) Seafood is the mainstay here, as you'd expect, and it all somehow tastes better
out on the 1st-floor terrace on a midsummer's evening. Rice dishes steal the show, as
does the mixed seafood platter, while the calamares al ajillo con patatas (cuttlefish
cooked with potato cubes and lightly spiced) is perfectly prepared.

Deià & Around
POP 750 / ELEV 222M
When the late afternoon sun warms Deià's honey-coloured houses, which clamber
breathlessly up a conical hillside, and the sea deepens to darkest blue on the horizon, it's

Deià was once a second home to writers, actors and musicians, the best known of
whom (to Anglo-Saxons at any rate) was the English poet Robert Graves.

and mountains, make it easy to understand why artists and other bohemians have loved
this place since Catalan artists 'discovered' it in the early 20th century.

10am-5pm Mon-Fri, to 3pm Sat) Casa Robert Graves is a fascinating tribute to the writer
who moved to Deià in 1929 and had his house built here three years later. It's a well-
presented insight into his life; on show you'll find period furnishings, audiovisual dis-
plays and various items and books that belonged to Graves himself.
The three-storey stone house, Ca N'Alluny (House in the Distance), is a testament to
his life and work. Graves left hurriedly in 1936 at the outbreak of civil war, entrusting
the house to the care of a local. The Spanish authorities allowed him to return 10 years
later and he found everything as he had left it. 'If I had felt so inclined, I could have sat
